Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

"How does God's love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refused help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action" (1 John 3:17-18)

Understanding that no one is poor in God's eyes, Mercer County Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational, volunteer ministry that builds and rehabs houses in partnership with families living in substandard/ inadequate housing. Working with families, we help to empower families, raise community awareness of substandard housing and are a witness of Christ's love. Families in need purchase a simple, decent place to live through a non-profit no-interest mortgage.
As one of the top 20 homebuilders in the United States, Habitat for Humanity International has more than 1300 affiliates worldwide and is building in all 50 states as well as 47 other countries.
